You might have heard of Gary Vaynerchuk, or ‘Gary Vee’, the entrepreneur taking social media by storm. Gary is the CEO of Vayner Media, Co-founder of VaynerSports, Chairman of VaynerX and is a thriving author, speaker and great investor. He has become a social media smash hit with 9.8 million followers on Instagram, and a stadium sell-out motivational speaker.
How did he reach such levels of success? Let’s take a look at his top business tips, useful for any budding entrepreneur.
“Gary’s goal is to be the greatest entrepreneur of all time”
# 1 – Do not focus on the competition. Focus on the customer.
Too many people in life don’t achieve their goals because they are too focused on their competition.
Focusing on the competition is like sucking the poison from a snake – it creates jealousy and envy, which will bring your morale down. Don’t do this.
Focus on yourself – personally, do what you need to do to show up to work feeling strong and happy. Then, focus on the customer. Please put all your efforts into listening to what the customer’s wants and needs are and figure out ways you are going to add value for them.
Never stop focusing on improving your brand and your product, and only use a competitor analysis as a knowledge point of what is going on in the industry.
Turn all your efforts on improving your product and service offering, and do not worry about what the competitors are doing -they might copy you, try to take your clients – put your head down and focus on the prize – your clients.
As Gary says, “Rather than getting so worked up your competition turn your energy towards providing the customer with value”.
# 2 – You’ve got to put the time and work in
Gary’s major drive comes from the point that nothing of nothing is nothing. Only the real successful understand the required work it takes to get there.
Successful entrepreneurs are passionate about what they do and do not mind working around the clock to get what they want.
Make your ambition the game. As Gary said, “I want the game. The game is my life. Your life is a game, and should be taken seriously – play your cards well.“
# 3 – Value patience
Patience is a virtue and Gary has said “Patience is practical. I push patience because life is long.“
So many people quit before they begin. They get disheartened too quickly when things don’t work out the way they want. Successful business owners are those who take their time, see through the process and understand the value of learning from their mistakes. It is essential to understand their business, client, competition, and general ecosystem more.
#4 – Embrace your failures
In life, everyone is going to fail. What defines true character is how you handle the adversaries during failure.
Are you going to crumble and fall with every failure, or are you going to learn from the experience, see the silver ling and keep it at heart when you try again?
Failure can be your greatest teacher if you embrace it. Embracing your failure creates an attitude of gratitude and builds a strength that is indispensable – you will be able to face the greatest of challenges with a calm mind because you understand the incredible and priceless lessons behind every failure.
